Every day you see crazy studies popping out from different so called "expert" institutions. One day you see that mobile usage can cause brain tumour and in the next month you hear that it is not brain tumour but tongue cancer! Never, I repeat, never believe in any of these studies. Most of these are done on a ridiculously small test data that you should be a perfect idiot to believe in them.
Now the latest in these studies is this one on sex and virginity. According to researchers in Columbia university, people who start sex at a later age appear to have more sexual health problems! According to them, people who started sex at 22 or later had difficulty in erection and orgasm!
Now here is the catch! It is not possible to determine cause-and-effect from the survey data, according to the researchers. Why? Young men with sexual problems may start having intercourse at a later stage, contributing to the link between sexual debut and sexual problems! Ha ha, really nice touch there!
Here is a counter proof I can offer. The guys at Columbia university used a sample data of 8000 US adults. In my counter proof, I will use a sample data of 1200 million Indian adults! In India, a significant majority of population engage in sex over 25 years of age. But we have the highest fertility rate and our population is exploding! Now eat that!

Why everyone blocked orkut access?
It appears that Orkut is a victim of its own success! There are lot people who wants a complete ban on Orkut access. Already many countries have blocked Orkut access completely. Here are some examples,
1. Orkut is banned in UAE following allegations that it promotes “immorality”. Many in gulf countries believe that Orkut has a “corrupting influence on youth”.
2. Religious fanatics in India (Siva Sena and the like) is calling for a ban on Orkut. They want a ban because some of their heros are not very respected in some communities. In fact they went on to vandalize cybercafes in Mumbai.
3. Most of the companies already ban Orkut. They feel that “employee productivity” is seriously affected due to Orkut access.
The most funny thing is that there are millions of sites worse than Orkut in all the above cases. There are a lot of shocking “immoral” sites out there on the internet. There are dedicated hate sites against everyone. Every day sites are popping up which can be hardly called “productivity boosting”. Why is that only Orkut is targetted?
The reason is obvious. Orkut is an internet phenomenon. Many people use it to connect to friends, organize birthday parties and because of its “social factor”. The only thing is, not everyone is happy to see smiling faces all around!
Another funny thing is people who are smart enough will find ways to circumvent the ban. There are millions of proxy sites out there and every day you have thousand new ones popping up!

According to YouGov poll (in which 2000 web users voted) following are the most hated words on the internet.

I think if they run a poll on most hated sentences, the top ones could be “all your base belongs to us” or “in soviet russia” etc. Also I wonder why the words like “WTF”, “n00b” or “LOL” doesn’t appear among top 10! In fact, this is the first time I came across “Folksonomy”. It also shows that a lot people are getting pi**ed off at the influence blogs have on internet.
This poll is not credible with just 2000 votes. To make some sense, a poll like this should have atleast 200,000 participants!
Largest annual gathering of women – attukal pongala in Kerala
According to Guinness book of records, Attukala Pongala event is the world’s largest annual gathering of women. In 2007, it is estimated that over 2.5 million devotees attended the event on a single day!
Attukal Pongala is an annual event at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala (Southern state of India). This event witnesses the participation of thousands of women devotees, who flock to the temple to offer Pongala.
Women gather in the early morning and boil rice mixed with other ingredients in the open field. This offering is supposed to please presiding deity.
Only women are allowed to participate in this festival. So on the pongal day, the city is virtually sieged by Women from far away places.

The Post-It Note Jaguar
This confirms the fact – Majority of people on planet earth are crazy. Here are a bunch of them decorating a car with post it notes. Yes, you read it correct – They seems to have used over 14,000 Post-it notes to cover a Jaguar completely.
Now why would I say majority of people are crazy? Because it has become a major news item! Agreed, reporting it again makes me part of the crowd
World’s first bicycle lift – In Trondheim, Norway
Trondheim in Norway was the first city in the world with a lift specially designed for cyclists. The bicycle lift is used by cyclists to climb up the Brubakken hill near Gamle Bybro. The lift requires you to purchase a key card. To use the lift you insert your key card, put your right foot on the foot rest and sit back on your bicycle seat and the lift moves at a speed of about 2 metres per second.
The whole thing looks a bit weird to me. Normally, the reason I use bicycle is to ride it. This is like those fellows I have seen in UK, who will take the bicycle on a train to travel 3 kilometres
UFO spotted at US airport (Chicago)!
A number of airport employees at O’Hare airport in Chicago claim that they have seen a UFO above the airport. But federal officials explain that it is just some weather disturbance.
A group of United Airlines employees – including pilots – swear they saw a mysterious, saucer-shaped craft hovering over O’Hare Airport last fall. The airline workers said the UFO didn’t have lights and hovered over a terminal before shooting up through the clouds, according to the Chicago Tribune.
“Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon,” Cory said. “That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low (cloud) ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things.”
Meanwhile French space agency (CNES) is planning to publish its archive of UFO sighting and other phenomena online within a few weeks.
Jacques Arnould, an official at the National Space Studies Centre, said the French database of around 1,600 incidents would go live in late January or mid-February.
He said the CNES had been collecting statements and documents for almost 30 years to archive and study them.

I saw this as the 10th most searched term on technorati and looked up “hi im mohan i am having problems” on google and it returned over 352,000 results!
I guess this spammer is based out of India and seems to have done a really neat job in spamming a lot of Websites! He seems to spam for all subjects from airline tickets to prescription drugs.
He didn’t even spare this anti-spam blog! From the post,

All three point to a pay-per-click redirect page. Hence the reason he wants to spam..
His email address is nearly always an “@mail.com” address. Easy enough to stop… You know, Akismet works pretty well if you allow it to – and teach it along the way with what spam it misses…
But what surprised me was that lot of these spam messages have no content at all!

All men are evil! – Fox news reports that airlines are increasingly viewing all men as a danger to children. I think soon the day will come when fathers will be banned from seeing their children. sigh!
Is advising a girl sexual harassment? – WorldNetDaily reports that a man has been convicted as a sex offender for holding a girl’s arm when she jumped in front of his car! He will be added to the state’s sex offender list. Talk about nonsense law!

Breast feeding is a crime? – Associated Press is reporting that a woman was kicked out from Freedom airlines plane (Burlington, US) (not the irony in the name – “freedom”) for breast feeding in public. The reason they have given is that the woman refused to use a blanket during breast feeding!
