Advertising war using hoardings

Here is a very funny example of advertising wars using hoardings. This one is from Mumbai, India. The top most hoarding (in hindi) says – “Please stop hoarding wars or else planes will crash on the hoardings!”

What are these guys waiting for?

Windows Vista or iPhone ? :)

What happens when you sleep at your office?

Head Honcho Michael is out of town right now, so apparently ANONYMOUS LAZY HAPPY DREAMHOST EMPLOYEE thought it’d be fine to sneak in a little nap on his office couch. And it would have been fine, if he could have only kept his pants on.

Dreamhost guys, This is not fair! Giving your employees too much work and then posting their ‘compromising’ photo is not fair at all..

Lunch on top of a skyscraper!

This is an amazing photograph taken by Charles C. Ebbets during construction of the GE Building at Rockefeller Center in 1932. It might look very dangerous, but when you work in such conditions for years, it is nothing!

In India, similar situations can be seen even today!

How many can fit on a motorbike?

Well, in Cambodia upto 6 is not a problem :)

Anyone who has traveled in Southeast Asia knows that the motorbike is a form of ‘mass transit’….it is not uncommon to see three or four on a bike; sometimes five, as in the image below…..I kept wondering if I would be able to see six on a bike….finally in Phnom Penh I saw them coming and was appropriately acknowledged as the tourist I was by the young man in front….

Pretty scary!

The Post-It Note Jaguar

This confirms the fact – Majority of people on planet earth are crazy. Here are a bunch of them decorating a car with post it notes. Yes, you read it correct – They seems to have used over 14,000 Post-it notes to cover a Jaguar completely.

Now why would I say majority of people are crazy? Because it has become a major news item! Agreed, reporting it again makes me part of the crowd :)

Strange keyboard – via Flickr

I came across this rather weird keyboard on flickr. No idea what it is! Anyone got any clue?

What does Mount Everest look like from outer space?

Ever wondered what Mount Everest looks like when seen from outer space? Well, you don’t need to be astronaut to see it! NASA provides an interactive tutorial on finding Mount Everest from space!

Following is one of the best photos of Everest (according to the site) taken from outer space. Check out the NASA site for more Mount Everest photos.

Best of flickr 2006

Flickrblog presents your best of 2006 – most of blog featured ones are with a classical touch. Check out this discussion for a list of best photos 2006 selected by Flickr users.

“You spent the year with new gear, with old gear, with hand-me-down gear. You spent the year shooting, snapping, cropping, and sharpening. You spent the year capturing people, places, abstracts, and snapshots. You spent the year learning, avoiding, obsessing, driving your friends and family coo-coo crazy. Surely, you got something to show for it! Show us your one favorite photo that you took in 2006.”

Here is the one I liked,

Top Ten Photos of 2006 From National Geographic News

National geographic looks at top 10 photos of year 2006.

Purported pyramids, giant jellyfish, and a number of pythons that swallowed more than they bargained for were among the stars of this year’s most popular news photos.

Amazing China photos

Brilliant and the best set of China photos by Gil AzouriToday I came across a stunning photo gallery by Gil Azouri on China. These photos were taken by him in 2005. Everything that a great photograph needs (subject, lighting, composition etc.) can be seen in his photos. Rarely you find such powerful photographs.

I don’t know whether there is any better photo collection on China! So when are you getting your air ticket to China? :)

Enjoy the collection…

Most decorated Christmas house?

Check out some of the “far fetched christmas” decorations photographed by vladdythephotogeek at flickr. Reminds me of the Onida ad – Owner’s pride and neighbors envy! But?Ç if ?Ç everyone starts like this I wonder what will happen to US power grid! He says,

I have nothing against people decorating their houses for Christmas. I actually like it. Most of the time. This guy on the other hand takes decorating FAR beyond what is reasonable. According to the local Newspaper (as you can imagine this kind of decorating gets a *bit* of attention) the inside is decorated with the same gusto and with all the lights on, he can’t use his microwave without blowing all his fuses.
